Free RC plane flight simulator

Fly RC planes from the pilot's spot on the ground, from a chase camera or on board. Pick a landscape, then what kind of flight — every one has real stalls, crosswind and flaps.

Take off, fly the circuit, land

A free RC plane simulator that runs in a browser tab — nothing to download, nothing to buy. Each landscape has three strips, and you fly the whole thing: open the throttle, hold the centreline, rotate, climb out, fly the circuit and bring it back onto the numbers. Landing is the part that takes practice, and it is the part this is for.

Fly it from where you would stand

Switch to the ground view and you are the RC pilot: standing beside the runway, watching the model fly away until it is a few pixels against the sky, then coming back toward you with left and right swapped. That is the part of flying RC that only practice fixes, and most browser sims leave it out. Press 3 for the ground view, or C to cycle through chase, on-board FPV, ground, follow, overhead and clear FPV.

A real flight model

Lift and drag off angle of attack, not a steering wheel in the sky. Pull too hard and the wing stalls; the nose drops and you have to fly out of it. There is adverse yaw, so turns want rudder, and prop wash swings the tail on the takeoff roll. Flaps, trim and a wheel brake all do what they do on a real airplane — trim with [ and ] until it flies hands-off. Wind and crosswind are set per flight, so a strip you have landed on a hundred times is a different problem at ten knots across it.

Use your RC transmitter

Any radio that shows up as a USB joystick works — EdgeTX and OpenTX radios in joystick mode — and so do ordinary gamepads. Map the sticks once on the controller setup page, reverse the elevator if it flies backwards, and choose whether the throttle follows the stick, as on your radio, or holds where you leave it, as on a gamepad. The simulator adds no expo of its own, so the rates and expo on your radio carry straight through. No radio? A keyboard, or a phone turned sideways, will do to start.

Aircraft

Eighteen aircraft, all free. Start on the RC Trainer: an electric high-wing trainer that levels its wings when you let go. The Electric Sailplane hand-launches, climbs on its motor and glides about 17 metres for every metre of height. The RC Warbird, a foam P-51, and the 3D Aerobat, an Extra 300 that can hang on its propeller, are for when the trainer gets easy. For FPV fixed-wing there is the FPV Flying Wing and the Long-Range V-Tail, and the Mapping Wing flies survey lines. Beyond the hobby: the Delivery Drone, the Parcel Cargo Drone, the Bayraktar TB2 and the MQ-9 Reaper, up to 20 metres across and flown off the long runway.

Practise before you fly your real plane

Every crash here is free. Fly the trainer until takeoffs are boring, then fly approaches from the ground view until you stop over-correcting when it comes toward you. Clubs and classrooms use it the same way: one link, nothing to install, any laptop.

Landscapes

Choose from the available maps above. Each landscape has three strips: a long grass field to learn on, something shorter, and a strip with a reason to be careful.

Four kinds of flight

Free flight is yours and nothing is scored. The guided circuit asks for the whole pattern — crosswind, downwind, base, final — and a landing back on the strip you left. Approach practice starts you on final with the glide slope and the PAPI lights to follow, which is the landing on its own, over and over, because that is the only way it gets better. The airfield hop sends you to a different strip and asks you to put it down there.

Questions

Is this RC plane simulator free?
Yes. No download and no ads. You can fly without an account; a free account is needed after your first few flights.
Can I use my RC transmitter?
Yes — any radio in USB joystick mode, including EdgeTX and OpenTX, or a gamepad. Map it once on the controller setup page.
Is there a pilot's-eye ground view?
Yes. Choose Ground as the starting view before you take off, or press 3 in flight.
Which plane should I start with?
The RC Trainer, on Countryside, in calm air. It levels its wings when you let go.
Can I fly an RC glider?
Yes. The Electric Sailplane is a 2 m motor glider: hand-launched, it climbs on the motor and then glides.
Does it work on a phone or a Chromebook?
Yes. On a phone, turn it sideways and fly with the on-screen controls. A Chromebook runs it in the browser like any laptop.
